Co-led by AME Cloud Ventures and Webb Investment Network, with participation from Y Combinator and industry leaders, we're accelerating our mission to transform law enforcement technology.
A Major Milestone
We are thrilled to announce that Code Four has raised $2.6 million in seed funding, co-led by AME Cloud Ventures and Webb Investment Network, with participation from Y Combinator and several prominent angel investors with backgrounds in law enforcement and public safety technology.
This funding represents not just financial support, but validation of our vision: that artificial intelligence can and should make law enforcement more efficient, more accurate, and more accountable. Our investors share our commitment to building technology that serves both officers and the communities they protect.
The Journey to This Point
When we started Code Four after leaving MIT, we had a thesis but no customers. We believed that AI could transform how law enforcement agencies handle the explosion of video data from body cameras, but we needed to prove it.
We spent months talking to departments, understanding their challenges, and building early versions of our technology. The turning point came when Pocatello PD agreed to pilot our platform. Their success—and their enthusiastic feedback—gave us the confidence and the proof points we needed to raise this round.
Use of Funds
This capital will enable us to accelerate on multiple fronts. First and foremost, we're investing in our engineering team. We're hiring top AI and machine learning talent to improve our models, expand our capabilities, and maintain the technical edge that makes our platform valuable.
We're also building out our customer success organization. As we add more departments, we need to ensure each one achieves excellent outcomes. This means dedicated onboarding support, comprehensive training, and ongoing assistance as departments expand their use of Code Four.
Finally, we're investing in our infrastructure. Processing video at the scale our customers require demands significant computational resources. This funding allows us to build the infrastructure needed to support our growing customer base while maintaining the performance and reliability they depend on.
Our Investors
We're fortunate to have attracted investors who bring more than just capital. Jerry Yang and his team at AME Cloud Ventures have deep experience scaling enterprise software companies and valuable perspectives on building in the public sector. Webb Investment Network brings connections and expertise in the law enforcement technology market.
Our angel investors include former law enforcement executives, public safety technology entrepreneurs, and AI researchers. They provide guidance on everything from product development to go-to-market strategy to responsible AI deployment.
Y Combinator, where we spent the winter batch, taught us how to move fast, stay focused on customer needs, and build with discipline. The YC community continues to be an invaluable resource as we navigate startup challenges.
Market Opportunity
The law enforcement technology market is at an inflection point. Body camera adoption has created an explosion of video data that departments struggle to manage with traditional tools. Officers spend hours reviewing footage and writing reports for incidents that lasted minutes.
Code Four addresses this pain point directly. Our AI analyzes video automatically, identifies key events, and generates comprehensive reports. Early customers report 70-80% reductions in time spent on report writing and evidence review.
As body camera adoption continues to expand, as video resolution increases, and as retention requirements lengthen, the challenge will only intensify. We're building the solution that will become essential infrastructure for modern law enforcement.
Product Vision
While our initial focus has been on report generation and evidence review, we see much broader applications for our technology. We're working on real-time analysis capabilities that can support officers during incidents. We're developing advanced redaction tools for FOIA compliance. We're exploring integration with CAD/RMS systems to create seamless workflows.
The unifying thread is using AI to reduce the administrative burden on officers so they can focus on the work that requires human judgment: investigation, community engagement, and decision-making in complex situations.
Commitment to Responsible AI
We take seriously the responsibility that comes with deploying AI in law enforcement contexts. Our platform is designed with transparency, accuracy, and accountability in mind. Officers always review AI-generated content before it becomes official. We maintain comprehensive audit trails. We're building tools that augment human judgment, not replace it.
We're also committed to ongoing dialogue with civil liberties organizations, policy experts, and community stakeholders. Technology this powerful requires thoughtful deployment and appropriate safeguards.
Gratitude
This milestone wouldn't be possible without our customers who took early bets on our technology, our investors who share our vision, our team who works tirelessly to build something meaningful, and the law enforcement community who has welcomed us and provided invaluable feedback.
We're just getting started. This funding enables us to accelerate our mission, but our commitment to serving law enforcement and public safety remains unchanged. We're building Code Four to be the essential AI platform for modern law enforcement, and we're grateful to have partners who support that vision.
What's Next
With this funding in place, we're focused on execution. We're hiring aggressively, expanding our customer base, and shipping new features regularly.
