What I found when we looked closer
Dyersburg has been a river town on the Forked Deer River since the 1830s and is the seat of Dyer County, 79 miles northeast of Memphis. As a regional center for northwest Tennessee, it draws shoppers, workers, and visitors from well beyond its 16,164 residents.
The city lost about 5.7% of its population between 2010 and 2020, but the area it serves has not shrunk.
Following one report through the building
The first thing we do with a new department is trace where a report goes after the officer hits submit. Here, it passes through 4 hands:
- 1Patrol officer
- 2Sergeant
- 3Investigations
- 4Dyer County court
Every one of those readers needs the same facts from the first draft. That is what shaped what we built.
What we built for them
What we're watching
These are the signals that will tell us whether it's working here:
- Same-shift report completion
- Investigator time to find key statements
- Supervisor returns per report
Figures on this page come from the department's own published materials. We only publish Code Four results after the department reviews them.
