What I found when we looked closer
South Fulton incorporated in 2017 from southwest Fulton County, including Red Oak, Cooks Crossing, and other communities, and with 107,436 residents is Georgia's eighth-largest city. Its creation made Fulton County the first county in Georgia to stop providing municipal police services.
That means a large city with a relatively young department, in the Atlanta metro, with a heavy caseload from the start.
In their words
I was impressed with your delivery and passion for creating easier workspaces for law enforcement.
Jubal RogersMajor · South Fulton Police DepartmentFollowing one report through the building
The first thing we do with a new department is trace where a report goes after the officer hits submit. Here, it passes through 4 hands:
- 1Patrol officer
- 2Sergeant
- 3Criminal investigations
- 4Fulton County district attorney
Every one of those readers needs the same facts from the first draft. That is what shaped what we built.
What we built for them
Investigators carrying many cases can search footage and transcripts instead of re-watching hours of video.
What we're watching
These are the signals that will tell us whether it's working here:
- Investigator time to locate key statements
- Cases assembled without re-watching full footage
- Time to assemble a case file
Figures on this page come from the department's own published materials. We only publish Code Four results after the department reviews them.
