What I found when we looked closer
Manor Township covers 48.6 square miles of west-central Lancaster County, running from near Millersville to the Susquehanna River, with about a fifth of its area in water. It has 21,920 residents across suburban neighborhoods, farmland, and river communities.
A township that size gives a modest department a lot of ground to cover and a lot of footage to work through.
Following one report through the building
The first thing we do with a new department is trace where a report goes after the officer hits submit. Here, it passes through 3 hands:
- 1Officer
- 2Sergeant
- 3Lancaster County district attorney
Every one of those readers needs the same facts from the first draft. That is what shaped what we built.
What we built for them
Officers can find what they need in recorded footage without re-watching every clip.
What we're watching
These are the signals that will tell us whether it's working here:
- Time to locate key statements
- Turnaround on partner-agency requests
Figures on this page come from the department's own published materials. We only publish Code Four results after the department reviews them.
