What I found when we looked closer
Cassia County, created in 1879, stretches from the Snake River at Burley down to the Utah and Nevada state lines. The Oregon Trail ran along its northern border, and the Raft River junction marked where the California Trail split off.
Deputies cover a large rural area, and cases can cross into neighboring counties and states.
Following one report through the building
The first thing we do with a new department is trace where a report goes after the officer hits submit. Here, it passes through 4 hands:
- 1Deputy
- 2Sergeant
- 3Investigations
- 4Court in Burley
Every one of those readers needs the same facts from the first draft. That is what shaped what we built.
What we built for them
Investigators can find a recorded statement without driving across the county or re-watching hours of video.
What we're watching
These are the signals that will tell us whether it's working here:
- Investigator time to locate key statements
- Turnaround on out-of-state partner requests
Figures on this page come from the department's own published materials. We only publish Code Four results after the department reviews them.
